Few characterists of cpu worth paying attention to: make & model: i7 is faster than i3, speed: speed is measured in ghz. 3 ghz processor can perform 3 billion operations per second: number of cores: moden cpus have multiple cores. Quad core has 4 processors built in, can do 4 times the computation of single core: power consumption: speed and number of cores can affect power consumption. Some processors can slow down their speed to save battery life: cache: bigger cache the better. Secondary storage is the long term (permanent) storage of a computer: include hard drives, flash drives, cds and dvds.
