Document Summary
Some of the molecules in the body (ions such as na+, k+, ca2+, cl-) have electrical charge, and are distributed unevenly. Creates a charge separaion that results in a potenial energy known as voltage. Voltage a charge separaion energy (across the cell membrane): measured between two points and is known as a potenial. Biological potenials have voltages ranging from -90 to -70, but can jump briely to +55 mv under special circumstances. Current result from the low of charge (from point a to point b). The amount of current that will low between two points depends on the resistance (the impediment to current low) Ohms law- current (i) = voltage (v) / resistance (r) The separaion of posiive and negaive charges can produce an electrical force. Force increases with decreasing distance of charge separaion (closer) The membrane is polarized (-ve on the inside, +ve on the outside)
