In the state of nature men are created virtually equal, any differences that do exist are not so considerate. Freedom indeed consists in ordering one"s own actions and disposing of one"s own property as each one thinks fit within the bounds of the law of nature . Within state one has executive authority over themselves. Very fine line between state of nature and state of war. What we do is an attempt to gain happiness. However happiness is relative and constantly changing. For hobbes these two desired clash, the desire for power is perpetual and restless therefore one is never happy with what they have. Within state of nature man is his own self and therefore cannot be told what to do. Locke believes civil government is the perfect remedy for a state of nature. There is no such thing as a crime. State of nature is governed by laws of nature.
