Biographical fallacy: the belief that a work of fiction must directly reflect on real events and people from the authors personal experience. Or believing that one can understand the meaning of a work of literature by asserting that it"s really about events in an author"s life. Irony that marlowe was best known for his play dr. faustus which was dark and gruesome but this poem was such a serene and innocent expression of love. Pastoral poetry: a poetic form that is supposed to create an idealized version of rural life. The passionate shepherd is a poem attempting to entice the woman that the shepherd loves to come live with him, and adopt this peaceful rural lifestyle. Marlowe uses nature imagery (ie. steepy mountain yields melodious birds a thousand fragrant posies ) this is to paint a serene picture in the reader"s mind.
