To review demographics to better understand aging in canada today. To understand the three demographic forces causing canadas population to age from 1850s to today. Dimensions of aging: physiologically: what happens to the body, psychologically: affecting the mind, especially as a function of awareness, feeling, or motivation, socially: cultural age expectations of how people should act, behave, as they age. Held the court during the interpretation of the charter. Senior citizens don"t want to be called this anymore so we are looking for better labels. Previously it was 65+, however now people are living much older. The government is trying to move the retirement age upwards, perhaps because we don"t have enough money to pay for all these seniors, 65+ Many 65 year olds now do not fit under the senior citizen umbrella. When people used to retire at 65 they would move into a retirement home and still be driving.
