Schlieffen plan- turns out that russian"s mobilize much more quickly than expected catching the german"s off guard. First month of the war (august) russian"s push well west, but by september the german"s regroup & push russia back. By 1915 when italy joins the war, they join the french/british side so that they could get significant parts of the a-h coast (dalmatia ect) The war begins & was largely based in europe, but it is a truly world war because soldiers were brought from all over the world. War also took into account the middle east as well and also the americas. 1915-1917 the americans are not pleased with whats going on in the atlantic (unrestricted submarine warfare any ship can be sunk even passenger liners) ss lutania was sunk with. April 2, 1917 the us congress ratifies entry into the war. Cost of total war (society, industry ect) is tipping the success from germany.
