(side story: people did not know how to spell his name on the ostracon) In 479 bce - aristeides commanded the land army the battle of plataea. In 478 bce a joint naval campaign with athens/ionia and sparta was launched (pausanius, cimon, In 477- cimon takes command, and aristeides evaluates which members make contributions to provide funds. Significance: /he was in charge in fixing the contributions of the newly formed delian league. He was the son of mitaides, who was the victor at the battle at marathon. He fought with distinction alongside aristeides and got a household name in athens. When he decides to enter politics he is promoted fater and higher than themistocles (because of his achievement and representation) In 477 bce cimon takes command of the delian league.
