Document Summary

Complex psychological processes that have three distinct components. One component is physiological arousal, when your freightened your heart is beating fast and your palms are sweaty. Another component, is behavioural expression, for example your angry and you hit someone. The feeling that you are consciously aware of your feelings and your thinking. Because an animal is scared, it runs away. Because an animal is angry, it fights for its own. No ifs and or buts, emotions are essential for survival. Emotions can also get to a place where they can be maladaptive. Such as someone who is in massive depression and they kill themselves. When people are asked about emotions, they classify them in two areas: valence: basically is it a positive emotion, or a negative emotion, arousal: how much physiological arousal accompanies the emotion. In most cultures, there are only two dimesnions to classify emotions, however in some cultures there is a 3rd.
