Document Summary

Europeans have coined the term orientalism as the special place in european western experiences, consisting of culturally rich and civilized colonies. The europeans essentially took aspects from their culture and combined it with their belief of orients in the sense of domination, and redefining it in a western context. The differentiation between east and west is historically and culturally different, but interference of british involvement in the orient caused western traditions to emerge (also seen in scholarly texts, which were elaborated concepts from the orient). Therefore, orient or occident was actually a man-made ideology merely created by the europeans to colonize land and establish power amongst people of these eastern countries, that do not identify themselves as europeans. Orientalism is an interesting concept in my opinion, but i strongly believe that this specific idea was only created to dominate colonies and execute great power to those that belonged to the east.
