The rst autotrophic life evolved in the middle of the proterozoic era; these were self-feeding life forms in the form of basic green algae and they caused the world to go from heterotrophic to autotrophic. Green algae are the ancestors of plants. Until recently, it was thought that bryophytes formed 1 clade but they"re only loosely related so this is not true. Bulk of biodiversity within plants is located in angiosperms because they are very species-rich and this is connected to their biology. All vascular plants have a thin layer called a cuticle on top and under their epidermis.
