Introduction: flowers are not just passive organisms that don"t do anything. Symbiosis between flowers and pollinators (?: plant pollination is not always symbiosis. Specialist versus generalist pollination: some species are generalist pollinators vs. specialists. A female parent must find a male vector to be pollinated by because they"re locked into the ground: pick up the pollen and then deposition. Male: anthers and filaments; blue; male reproductive organ. Female: ovary with eggs; stigma; style red diagram: the pollen is supposed to land on the stigma, germinate, grow through the style and fertilize the egg cells. General flower function: through this, the plants are essentially worried about two characteristics connected to pollination/ reproduction. Quantity and quality are the two factors that plants are worried about: quantity: Quite risky; if it doesn"t work in this one occasion, it"s the end of the genetic parent line.
