Document Summary

In toronto culture is still downtown while in detroit culture is no longer centered in the city. Tourists will not travel into the suburbs to see attractions and thus they are centered in the city. The toronto zoo and the science centre are located in the outskirts and thus have a hard time attracting tourists. American cities have tended to move more outwards than canadian cities due to different trajectories. Stock exchanges, major hotels are still concentrated in the downtown core. Power is largely concentrated in the downtown core major banks (td center) 1950s to 70s: post war suburban boom this was correct during this time period. Most of these homes were detached homes, no apartment buildings or high rises, semis, town homes, etc. Modern suburbs: nature of suburbs has drastically changed many suburbs have high rises, condos and large apartment buildings.
