Certain size of settlement and density of populations are necessary for civilization. Neolithic revolution expanded the population and increased the carrying capacity of land. Lack transportation resulted in people living together, close (walking distance) to their cultivations. Neo rev. resulted in expansion of population --- when the population rose above the numbers that could be supported, they had to move to new places to settle. In any stone age society, everyone should contribute.
