Precise system of representation for all the sounds of the world"s spoken language and represent over 800 speech sound. Very few languages have an orthography with one-to one-correspondences between sounds and symbols. The letter of the english alphabet can have many pronunciations. Vocal folds(vocal cords): the vocal folds are located within the larynx at the top of the trachea. All the sound in english are made thorough air being forced out of the lungs, then sent between the vocal folds. The airflow can be shaped, interrupted, or stopped. The airflow is filtered and manipulated into sounds.
