Some mercantilist monopolies held by govt like spanish govt control over gold mines. Other monopolies granted by govt to private business like (udson(cid:495)s bay, dutch east. Mercantilism control on trade served to manipulate terms of trade and prices paid for exports/imports. Mercantilist polices goal was to turn terms of trade in favour of mother country.
