Scientific method is the best way of learning about the mind and behaviour in terms of diagnosing of mental disorder, affective treatment diagnosis. People who are diagnosis with same type of psychological disorder, may have completely different symptoms. Behaviour is influenced by a complex network of interacting factors. We all have symptoms of all various types of disorders. Medical model: the medical model > focuses on biological causes, views abnormal behaviour as a disease, too much focus on cure instead of overall health for the patient, (cid:3976) (cid:24512) (cid:26069) long-term (cid:2905)care. Sometimes, that is clearly true, as with traumatic brain injury: this model has been adopted by psychiatrists rather than psychologists, taking the blame off on a person: taking away the stigma of mental illness of someone, biomedical model. Assessment & diagnosis: assessment involves examining a person"s mental state in order to diagnose (and treat) possible psychological disorders, they are valid and reliable (objective), not based on opinions (subjective).
