WDW152H1 Study Guide - Final Guide: Personal Information Protection And Electronic Documents Act, Consumerism, Infant Mortality
Document Summary
Although most people claim to revile war, wars have recurred over the millennia. Causes of war are the same as the causes for competition among individuals, acquisitiveness, pugnacity, and pride. In individuals pride adds vigor in the competitions of life. In the state, nationalism, gives added force in diplomacy and war. The state of nature refers to the war against all for all. It is a thought experiment about what the world was like before the creation and rise of civil society and government, before there was organized society and rules for behaviour. In this world everyone is essentially trying to get food and territory and protect what they have. Everyone is simply out to protect themselves, all against all, everyone ighting. It can be solved with the creation and use of a government. A balance of power is when states have an equal amount of power.
