Attempting to be inclusive for some can reduce the inclusion for others. Mainstream inclusion puts individuals with and without disabilities together in inclusive contexts. & they"ll get to know each other better and reduce stigma. Camps that demonstrate mainstream inclusion can implement it through: Remove physical and social barriers to inclusion. Encourage friendships b/w people with and without disabilities. Prepares children w/ disabilities for future relationships. Able-bodied children can make friends w/ their disabled peers. Many spaces remain inaccessible in some ways. Limited training can result in staff who aren"t actually qualified. Specially designed programs or locations attended exclusively by people with disability. Focused on creating spaces/opportunities for specific kinds of limitations. Highly trained staff w/ a shared commitment. Bringing non-disabled people into disabled spaces and opening them up while inviting them in. Can succeed where previous mainstream inclusion efforts have failed. Lingering or unspoken stigma can result in low attendance.
