Four multilateral conventions on: the territorial sea and contiguous zone, the continental shelf, the high seas, the fishing and conservation of living resources of the high seas. The 1982 convention on the law of the sea and the 1994 agreement on the deep sea. If both states parties to 1982, this convention prevails. If both states parties to 1958 but only one to 1982, relations are governed by 1958. If a state is not party to any of the conventions, relations are governed by customary law. 2 los: sovereignty of a state extends beyond its land territory and its internal waters, to a belt of sea adjacent to its coast . State has full legislative jurisdiction over territorial sea. 27 and 28 limitations in international law: no criminal jurisdiction over foreign vessels etc. Claim to the waters is supported by customary law (inherited right).
