Solution: in system (i), the rst equation is not linear because it has an x2 term. And in system (iii), the second equation is not linear because it has a yz term. But in system (ii), each equation involves only x, y and z multiplied by constants, so these are all linear equations. (of course, dividing an unknown by a constant c is the same as multiplying that unknown by 1/c. ) So system (ii) is the only one of the given systems which is linear.
