Portal of exit/entry + mode of transmission: sanitize hands + basic hygienic practices. Susceptible hosts: healthy lifestyle boosts immune system. Endemic: expected baseline level of an infectious disease that is continuously present in a population within a geographic area (is a cycle) Epidemic: increase (often sudden) in the number of new cases of a disease above what is normally expected in that population in that geographic area: outbreaks are very localized epidemics (i. e. one hospital)
