Do not have as good of a memory as the older generations did since technology has been around. Lack of memorization comes along with extreme usage of technology. Usa memory championship: self taught individual, easy to succeed in competitions like these because few individuals care to attempt this skill. When would memory be valuable today: memorizing directions, concepts and terms for exam, learning new languages, lyrics, phone numbers. Memory palace: childhood homes, etc, architectural digest. Faces: easier to recognize a face rather than a name. Joshua foer: moonwalking with einstein: how he tried to become better at understanding memorization, had to come up with graphic images that correspond with names or concepts. Oral tradition: bhopas memory, endurance of epic poems. Healing powers: challenge to oral tradition. Bhopas: type of person who learns to recite epic poems to perform, still exists today, their job is to spread the word of these poems, these poems would be thousands of stanzas long.
