Specifically we will discuss important sociological topics related to social class, deviance, gender, race and ethnicity, sexuality, family, education and so on. We will also discuss significant sociological processes such as socialization, stratification and social construction. Throughout the class you will be challenged to develop and apply your. Sociological imagination as you use these new skills and analytical abilities to think through contemporary societal issues. It is essential that chapter readings are done prior to class as the lectures and class discussions are designed under the assumption that students have read the required material.
