Definition focuses on research about eating problems among minority groups. Also explains traumas & showing the interface b/w these traumas explain why women use eating to numb pain. Examples: there is a white, middle class, heterosexual phenomenon regarding eating problems. Modes of oppression (i. e. poverty, racism, classism and sexism) were often associated w/ eating problems. When analyzing struggles in feminism we must consider every intersecting dimension of oppression that people face. People may face different struggles/traumas as a result of their race, religion, sexuality, which must be taken into consideration when talking about feminism. Definition the conversation about eating disorders revolves around shaming in regards to body size. Telling someone to eat something takes away from the complexity of what is actually happening. Examples: focuses on thinness takes away from being able to recognize that eating problems only occur in certain body types.
