Patriarchy: the social organization or hierarchy of society in which males are deemed superior to females. We all participate in this system as it is the social system that organizes our lives. It is usually experienced and not seen (subtle and insidious system) It is the root of sexism and inequality and it criticizes that there is a biological component to a woman"s inferiority. Issues of identity categories and how they work to organize our experiences. Essentialism: the belief that all people who claim an identity think and act the same (ex.
