Document Summary

Attachment: superior ramus of pubis; pectineal line (origin: above obturator!) *typically mixed up with medial muscles of thigh is not a medial muscle because of innervation. Attachment: anterior superior iliac spine; medial tibia. *psoas major & iliacus are sometimes considered anterior thigh muscles. Dog peeing on a firehydrant / cross legged position . Part of the 3 musketeers (3 muscles with similar attachments) Action: crosses hip & knee; hip flexion; knee extension. Origin: femur (therefore no action at hip) Does not cover obturator foramen!! (diff. btwn longus and pectineus) Adductor magnus weird muscle that doesnt follow the rules. Attachment: all the way down the femur; adductor tubercle (anterior portion) Actions: thigh adduction (superior part of femur), thigh extensor (posterior portion) Innervation: anterior portion obturator; posterior portion sciatic nerve. Tendons can be removed & used to reconstruct acl. Front to back muscle = lateral rotation of leg. *longer a muscle is, more likely it will be superficial.
