Document Summary

Politics: activity related to influencing, making or implementing collective decisions for a political community (i. e. , laurier, canada, waterloo regions- all political communities; can be small as a classroom or big as a region) Agreements/disagreements: what the decision should be, how it should be implemented many decisions are about money: laurier gets 5billion, now laurier has to decide where the money should go (i. e, cheaper textbooks, subsidising tuition) Government is about how we make decisions (i. e, quebec referendum, separation of a country) There are many resources (money, benefits) but there are many demands. We need a process to decide who should receive support. We need to resolve any conflict that could arise. Religious neutrality - quebec; cannot wear anything that shows religious affiliation. Is also about resolving disagreements and conflicts over: values, world views. That political conflict originates over scarce resources and or differing values. It involves struggle among different groups in society who want different things.
