Drugs and behaviour: drug: any chemical that when taken into the body, causes a change in physiology, mood, cognition, level of consciousness, behaviour etc. Sometimes the definition includes chemical that are not found in the body but this is not true for all cases: psychoactive drugs: drugs that directly affect the brain and thus behaviour, cognition, mood, perception, etc. How do we learn about drug use in society: most of the information we learn on drug use in society is from surveys/questionnaires and interviews. These surveys/questionnaires investigate terms like who , what , where , when , The perception of marijuana as easy to obtain has remained constant throughout the decades. Community, parents and peers do not discourage drug use. Desire to have fun: protective (resiliency) factors: associated with lesser amounts of drug use or abstinence. Parents are educated and expect child to earn an education. Positive school experience, good attachment to teachers; high scores in school.
