Once level of fat has been met, hypothalamus increases production and release of the hormone gnrh (gonadotropic releasing hormone) Endocrine system: network of glands in the body, through hormones the glands coordinate their function and affect the development and functioning of the body. Leptin: a protein produced by fat cells that signals the hypothalamus to initiate the hormonal changes of puberty. Gnrh (gonadotropin-releasing hormone): hormone released by the hypothalamus that causes gonadotropins to be released by the pituitary. Hormones: chemicals, released by glands of endocrine system, affect developing and functioning of the body.
