You couldn"t find many cancers, etc. because these are old people"s diseases! High income countries in 1880s had a 63% diseas rate, and today that is reduced to. 1918 was the year when people got flu viruses and many people died. In usa and canada the life expectancy age is around 80 years old. From 1950 to 2000 the population went from 3 billion to 6 billion, in 50 years only. There"s a huge gap in life expectancy in rich countries vs the poorer/third world countries. And this is mostly because of the presence of aids. Microbes have caused the most devastating epidemics in recent human history. The 1918 spanish flu epidemic (the french called it spanish flu) Better sanitation before delivering babies, reduces the chance of infections. This vaccine was very useful in eradicating smallpox.
