Solitary wart or as a mosaic wart (a bunch of warts clustered together like grapes) Satellite warts are the additional warts used to describe >1 lesion (the extras" in mosaic?) In both cases, they result from hpv infecting the skin through a small cut or micro-abrasion. The appearance of warts confirms the pathology but they may also not be visible (latent infection or subclinical infection) Appearance: rough lesions with firm hyperkeratosis keratinous buildup called. Verruca. : black dots ( seeds ) in the centre of lesion are thrombosed capillaries. They may bleed when debrided: the lesion is of skin colour but could also be greyish or brownish. Height: inward growth due to pressure from walking. Satellites: positive when there are mosaic plantar warts (more than one wart in a cluster) Lateral pressure: pain upon pressure, especially when it"s pinched from the sides (lateral pressure). Leg/back pain: there could also be some pain that occurs when stepping on the affected foot.
