The assigned article introduces the main argument stating that new queer types of masculinity need to be analyzed closely when relating with the gender bias. Mayo shows conversations regarding the gender and sexuality have on different identities and communities that can help people understand the concept of gender. One of the interesting points i came across is the advice given to female-to-male (ftm) transexuals who desire to live as men. I find it weird when the author formulated advised that ftm transexuals should live in the areas where other transexuals might be identified as females which i take as criticism. It leads to establish the gender hierarchy and deciding which gender or sexuality is socially accepted. The disputes about the gender ignore one transgression while favour the other, thus resulting in a complex relation.
