3 cardinal planes
-sagittal plane: body divides body in half (into R/L)
-specifically into equal halves = medial/midsagittal plane
-coronal/frontal plane: divides body in front & back (anterior vs posterior)
-transverse plane: divides body transversally into top & bottom
