Only stis caused by bacteria (eg. chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis) are curable with antibiotics. Genital warts: caused by the human papillomaviruses (hpv) Warts are seen in foreskin of men and near vaginal opening for women. If there are visible growths they can be removed by surgery, freezing, or burning with lasers or acids. (but they may come back) Genital herpes: is caused by herpes simplex virus. Type 1 causes cold sores and fever blisters. Some have no symptoms but others get a tingling or itching sensation before blisters appear on the genitals. When blisters rupture, they leave painful ulcers that may take as long as 3 weeks or 5 days to heal.
