(aquinas) Human law (tort law and criminal law) is needed mainly as a corrective for failed training, also for coordination. Laws which we give ourselves, which can fail due to human error that is typical. Two conditions which make human law unjust (aquinas) (1) unauthorized users of power: example: provincial government creating criminal offences, that is the federal governments job (2) laws imposing unequal burdens: example: slavery laws. Teleological: everything is to be understood in terms of its proper and, purpose or telos (greek word for end) Included: natural objects (mountains), artifacts (telephone) and social institutions (laws)
