Compare the relative merits of a pluralist versus a class analysis approach to the study of politics. There are numerous approaches in regards to studying politics. Pluralism and class analysis, are just two among the many. In the easier, normative and empirical approaches put politics into theoretical or applicable. Going straight to the point, this essay will talk about the benefits, while considering the shortcomings of both pluralism and class analysis. Pluralism is the existence or toleration in society of a number of different racial, cultural, or religious groups. Pluralism argues for using groups as the fundamental unit of analysis, suggesting that the political process is best understood by studying the activities of groups. Pluralism tends to support the liberal perspective , along with the neo - liberal perspective. Pluralists say that power is not concentrated in one area. The pluralists also say that fairness within competition will not let any single interest dominate.
