Document Summary

Every society has 1 identity, while at the same time there are many micro-cultures in a country. Athenian democracy & american are very similar as they compose of: white male citizens, and free low pay workers. They both have the same interests, even though they had small differences, common understanding culture/equal among themselves. Democratic deliberation- discussing and reasonably using logic to evaluate an agreement. Citizen/non-citizen- similarities/right received turns everyone into a citizen. Equality is only produced from inequality; we obtain our rights & equality through membership. A more inclusive democracy -> more inequality in the demos paradox. Democracy wants to est a meaningful form of equality, where all members of the demos seek to be equal=citizens-1 vote -> political equality! Equality of opportunity- all should have the same possibilities->school, livelihood, children, rights. Natural inequality/equality-> differences we have as humans; disabilities, colour (our natures could be different) Equality of outcome- government wants to ensure equality, not abstract principles.
