Document Summary

Results: the study had to be stopped in 8 days but was still considered to meet the ethical guidelines. Day 1- the prisoners didn"t really form an identity and weren"t very pleased with the fact that they didn"t have the same resources as the guards i. e quality of food. Since they were all showing their individual identities basically they couldn"t overpower the guards to get what they wanted. This could also be because the guards were treating them nicely ( one even gave sausages to them) Day 2- the guards surprisingly haven"t formed an identity either perhaps because they knew the aim of study and didn"t want to repeat what occurred in the stanford prison and be abusive. It could also be because they didn"t need to as the prisoners were still manageable. Day 3- the next phase of the experiment needed to take place, which was promoting only one prisoner to the status of a prison guard.
