Health and behaviour: health habits influence likelihood of developing chronic and fatal diseases, first and second leading causes of death are cardiovascular diseases and cancer, lifestyles, risk factors and health. Exercising, eating diet with fruits and vegetables, not smoking, and not drinking too much can lead to longer lives. Any activity people perform to maintain or improve their health, regardless of their perceived health status or whether the behaviour achieves that goal. Well behaviour: activity to maintain or improve health and avoid illness (ex: exercising, eating healthy diets, getting vaccinations) Symptom-based behaviour: activity for people who are ill to determine the problem and find a remedy (ex: complain about symptoms, get advice) Sick-role behaviour: activity people undertake to treat or adjust to a health problem after deciding that they are ill and what the illness is (ex: get prescription filled, stay home from work)
