Self-actualization needs: esteem needs, belongingness and love needs, safety needs, physiological needs. Extraversion: degree to which pp seek out social contacts, receives arousal/energy from other people. Level of extraversion tends to have culture-specific meaning. First defined by carl jung- it is a particularly influential determinant of group behaviour. Reticular formation: extraverts have a less active reticular formation, which in turn leaves them less aroused, with lower levels of energy; this leads them to go to others to receive that energy to fulfill the biological need. Relationality: the deg(cid:396)ee to (cid:449)hi(cid:272)h o(cid:374)e"s (cid:448)alues, attitudes, a(cid:374)d outlooks e(cid:373)phasize, a(cid:374)d fa(cid:272)ilitate establishing and maintaining, connections to others. Higher relationality = more likely to seek out and more highly prize group memberships. (cid:862)connectors(cid:863) (gladwell) individuals who are so high in relationality that they have far more ties to other people than most people. People differ in which need takes priority for them.
