Isreali-palestainian war: this one is questionable because palestine does not really have a state. War on terrorism: not really a war because terrorism is a tactic, not a state. Militarized interstate dispute : events that appear to be wars but do not meet the general 1,000 casualty threshold. War : an event between opposing groups that takes place over a period of time and involves large scale violence, militarization, and upwards of 1,000 casualties. Intrastate/domestic war : conflict between a state and an armed rebel group. Examples of causes of war : territorial disputes (most common reasons for war), government control, economic matters, ethnicity, religion, ideology. *please note that some theories throughout these notes, such as realism, have a different application or context than they do in international relations.
