People consistently incorrectly predict how something will make them feel. Implementation intentions specify when, where, and how something will be accomplished. It helps to ensure persistence in the face of distraction and obstacles. Distinguish between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset. What might be the long-term consequences of adopting each mindset: growth mindset means that you see intelligence as malleable something you can get better at. The goal is to increase competence: consequences, fixed mindset means that you see intelligence as fixed you either have it or you don"t. Tend to choose more challenging tasks that will extend their competence. Increase persistence sees difficulty as a cue to increase effort, or to analyze and vary their strategies. Tend to select easier goals to show competence.
