In group/out group: useful in describing groups with power inequality, reference group, a group useful for comparison. Information, connections, and skills that help individuals enter or gain power in networks: example: neighborhood watch, better health awareness, decreased over the years; people don"t know their neighbors as closely anymore. Organizations: not institutions, social network with a common purpose and a structure, have both culture and structure. Stratification: systematic inequalities between groups of people, as a consequence of social processed, relationships.
