In-class: regular attendance, ask questions if you don"t understand, make an effort toward staying focused on the lecture and presentation (avoid day dreaming). At-home: review material regularly, review material before lecture, review soon after lecture, draw your own graphs, not just copy, and understand the reason for their shapes and shifts. Study environment: quiet or minimum noise, minimum or no interruptions (every interruption causes 10-15 minutes to restart process of concentration), stay focused (you may be reading the material but your mind is elsewhere). Study time: two hours, minimum, at least twice a week, twenty minutes here and there is usually a waste of your time. It"s not an efficient use of time: do not study in fits and starts. Save your time and do other things instead, until you can apply suggestion 1 above. They"re excellent application of the covered concepts: work out some of the end-of-chapter exercises whose answers are given at the end of the book.
