Aed will give best chance of survival for victim (gold standard: every min. Infant/ child- 1 min of care before getting aed (o2/cpr) Electrodes placed so heart is in between. You can use aed if person has internal defibrillator. Transdermal medication can go into your body pass out. You can use aed on pregnant women. Back away from patient and do not touch during analysis or shock delivery. Internal: hard to see initially, patient may have bruising, vomiting blood, rigidity, stomach pain. Does not work pressure on proximal pulse point. Actively engage in convo when caring for pt. to assess avpu status and determine if in shock. Autoclaved & individually wrapped (cotton tips, gauze) Wipe wound: from inside out to prevent infection. Apply ointment: middle of wound outside.
