Benjamin rush- worked towards classifying mental illnesses, believed the best treatment was to increase blood circulation, came up with occupational therapy, pioneered addiction therapy. Sigmund freud- father of psychoanalysis : developed free association, transference, three components of our mind: id- desire, superego- morals, ego- moderator. John watson- did not believe in subconscious or internal struggle, only concerned with behavior that can be seen: classical conditioning, operant conditioning, shaping, infamous for an affair, went into advertising. Moral insanity- legal term for people who broke the law, concerned about personality rather than intellect. Biological model- idea that psychological disorders are a result of biological issues.
