Document Summary

Relatively permanent change in potential behavior that results from experience. Change- most learning tends to produce lasting changes in the behavior of the learner. This definition excludes changes in behavior that result from anything other than experience. For example, behavior can be modified by non-experiential events like diseases, injury, or maturation. Potential behavior- although learning causes changes in behavior, it is not always reflected directly in performance. A change in behavior under the appropriate conditions must be observable at some time to claim that learning has occurred. Six different kinds of learning: habituation/sensitization, habituation . Is a decrease in response to a stimulus after repeated presentations. For example, a new sound in your environment such as a new ringtone may initially draw your attention or even become distracting. Over time, as you become accustomed to this sound, you pay less attention to the noise and your response to the sound will diminish.
