May not be good representation of the populations underlying characteristics. Partition the n items in the frame into n groups of k items. Choose first item to be selected at random from the first k items in the frame, then select the remaining n-1 items by taking the every k th item thereafter from the entire frame. Simple random and systematic easier than other more sophisticated samples, but require a larger sample size. Good for membership directories, electoral registers, class rosters, and consecutive items coming off an assembly line. Ensures representation of individuals across the entire population.
