Document Summary

Chromatin is the dna-histone protein complex that wraps around dna. It consists of dna and globular histone proteins. A nucleosome is a section of dna that is wrapped around a core of proteins, and contains dna bases and histone proteins to form a unit of chromatin. Chromosomes uncoil into extremely long thin structures and no longer appear as individual threads. G0: cells that do not replicate and are stuck in g1 phase. M: check if chromosomes have attached to spindle apparatus, and if chromosomes have properly segregated and mpf is present. G1: checks to see if cell size is adequate, nutrients are sufficient, social signals are present, and dna is undamaged. Two sister chromatids are joined at the centromere. G2: check to see if chromosomes have replicated successfully, dna is undamaged, activated. Prophase: chromosomes condense and the spindle apparatus forms. Metaphase: the chromosomes line up on the metaphase plate in the middle of the cell.
