Document Summary

Ileum: additional area of absorption for nutrients. Arteries: carry blood away from the heart. Arterioles: transport blood from arteries to capillaries. Capillaries: deliver nutrients and oxygen to cells. Neuromuscular junction: a chemical synapse formed by the contact between a motor neuron and a muscle fiber. Water is swallowed and goes down the esophagus and into the stomach. It then goes from the small intestine where much of it is absorbed through an osmotic gradient in the wall. More water is then absorbed in the large intestine. The kidneys then filters out waste products, and more water is reabsorbed. The remaining liquid travels through ureters into the bladder, and later exits the body through the urethra. Light enters through the cornea which refracts the rays in a way that they can pass through the pupil and into the iris which can enlarge and shrink depending on how much light enters. It then passes through the crystalline lens which focuses the rays.
